HEALTH INFORMATION MANAGEMENT (HIM).

A. PROGRAMME NOMENCLATURE

Diploma in Health Information Management.

B. GOAL

This programme is designed to provide the grandaunt with the knowledge and skill to assist in planning, collating, organizing, disseminating and managing vital information required at the Primary Health Care, and state levels in order to ensure effective and comprehensive health care delivery.

C. DURATION

Its duration shall be for three academic sessions of six (6) semesters, including supervised clinical work experience or SIWES.

F. AWARD OF GRADES

A candidate shall be recorded as having attained, in a course a level of achievement graded as follows:

70% - 100% A Exellent
60% - 69% B Very Good
50% - 59% C Good
45% - 49% D Satisfactory
40% - 44% E Pass
0% - 39% F Failure





D. PROGRAMME STRUCTURE

The Diploma is a three years terminal professional program including industrial attachment under the supervision of the Health Records Officers Registration Board of Nigeria (HRORBN).

E. CONDITIONS FOR THE AWARD OF ND CERTIFICATE

The HRORBN will award Diploma to candidates who successfully completed the programme in accredited Institutions offering the programmes after passing the prescribed course work, examinations, diploma project, supervised work experience scheme (SIWES) and attendance.

G. OVERALL PERFORMANCE OF CANDIDATES

The overall performance of each candidates during an entire session shall be determined by means of a weighted average grades, obtained by awarding credit points in respect of each course on the basis of unit value of the course multiplied by the numerical value of the grade obtained such that;

  • A = 5 Credit point per unit
  • B = 4 Credit point per unit
  • C = 3 Credit point per unit
  • D = 2 Credit point per unit
  • E = 1 Credit point per unit
  • F = 0 Credit point per unit
  • The Grade Point Average (GPA) = total number of credit points divided by the total number of course units

    A candidate whose Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) is less than 1.00 shall be on Probation for the semester. Any time GPA falls below 1.00 the candidate shall be warned.

    A candidate who scores a CGPA of less than 1.00 in two consecutive semesters shall be required to withdraw from the programme.
